On 27th June, Tbay went to 3 schools: Dairy Farm Nursery & Primary School, located in Dairy Estate Sango, Agege, Lagos; the State Nursery & Primary School, located in Sango Agege, Lagos; Ife-Oluwa Nursey & Primary School, Famuyia Street, located in Agege Lagos. Our "Donating 1,000 Schools Program" was going well in Nigeria and made significant progress.
About Diary Farm Nursery & Primary School
This was the 37th school we donated. It was founded in 1975. The School was formally known as Local Government Primary Schools, but later split to two schools. It later moved to its current site on 1st November 1980 and used the name Dairy farm Pry School, Sango. Presently, the school has an existing structure provided by the government but lacks proper desks and chairs.
About State Nursery & Primary School
This was the 38th school in our program list. And it was the second school created from Diary Farm Nursery & Primary School which is also government funded and located in the heart of disadvantaged communities in Lagos Nigeria. It currently shares the same premises with Dairy Farm school and 120 students have enrolled.
About Ife-Oluwa Nursey & Primary School
This was the 39th school. Ifeoluwa Primary School was established on 26th September 1980 with four teachers,. Mrs V.O. Kappo is the tenth and present headteacher with 26 teaching staff, 8 non-teaching staff, and eight hundred and forty four (840) pupils at the school.
Why We Selected Them
Those 3 schools were all government funded, and most students are from less privileged homes and their parents or guardians can’t afford to give the children essentials for schooling. We had a deep understanding of the challenges and those schools' limited access to resources. That’s why we selected them to conduct our donation.
Donation Process
When we arrived the schools, we were welcomed by the Education Supervisor (E.S) alongside the head teacher of the school. Our charity event started with a speech from the E.S to the students.
We planned to create a memorable experience for the students. To achieve this, an icebreaker competition was organized where our staff and students actively participated. The competition involved various team-building activities that brought the participants together and strengthened their bonds. The ultimate prize for their collective efforts was an opportunity to win a football. Witnessing the students' eyes lighting up with joy as they received their gifts was an incredibly heartwarming experience for the Tbay staff.
The primary objective of our charity event was to support underprivileged students by providing them with the necessary tools for a bright academic future. Understanding the importance of education,our team spared no effort to ensure that each of the 180 students received a school bag filled with essential stationery, such as notebooks or pens. These donations aimed to lighten the financial burden on their families and empower the students to embrace learning with enthusiasm.
Finally, there was a vote of thanks and certificate presentation by the Head Teachers of each school, the headmaster was deeply grateful for everything Tbay has done for the school's teachers and students. They hope that Tbay will keep growing in the future and consistently assist more individuals in need.
Conclusion
Tbay's charity event stands as a shining example of how a simple act of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity and hope in the lives of young students. By donating school bags and stationery, and engaging in a fun-filled icebreaker competition, Tbay left an indelible mark on the hearts of 180 students. Tbay's efforts have sown the seeds of hope and promise, our charity events will keep going, let’s look forward to our next journey: Ghana.
