Tbay Charity Event in South Africa—June, 2023
On June 19th and 23rd, Tbay visited 2 schools, Bophelong Primary School, located at 1065 MOSAKA BOPHELONG, VADERBIJLPARK, and Extension K Secondary School, located at STAND No.683, TWEEFONTEIN EXT. K KWAMHLANGA 1022. They’re the 41st and 42nd school we donated for our “Donating 1,000 Schools” program in Africa. Let’s start to share our story in South Africa.
Introduction of Bophelong Primary School
Situated in the heart of a poverty-stricken environment, Bophelong Primary School stands as a beacon of hope for the community. Established in 1955, the school caters to approximately 1,262 pupils. With only 44 teachers, the school faces the economic challenge such as overpopulation, yet still strives to provide quality education to students.
Introduction of Extension K Secondary School
Extension K Secondary School, with about 520 students and 18 teachers, is a no-fee school. It provides a feeding scheme for many underprivileged students. As a government-funded section 21 school, the department allocates funds to them and are accountable for ordering stationery, textbooks, covering utility bills, and managing their own maintenance requirements in this rural settlement, where parents often work far from home and struggle to afford basic necessities.
The Donation Process
For those 2 schools' students, they are facing the the shortage of school shoes and daily essentials, and therefore, we took them with 83 shoes and 34 sanitary pads.

The donation process was a collaborative effort. After meeting with the Extension K Secondary School’s principal Mr. Mathabathel, Tbay staff delivered a speech before donation. Then Tbay team began to allocate shoes to students to ensure that each donated pair of shoes would find its perfect fit. This initiative not only provided tangible assistance, but also instilled hope and motivation in the hearts of these young learners.
The principal extended an invitation to the Tbay team upon noticing our charity activities featured on the Facebook page. After a phone call discussion, we visited the school to assess the situation, and then agreed to provide assistance. The local chief is pleased with our involvement and expressed enthusiasm to attend the event by delivering a motivational speech to the students. SABC TV was also invited to broadcast our charity event on their channel.
The effects of this event were significant, as these apparently minor contributions played a vital role in alleviating the daily challenges faced by determinated students when pursuing education in difficult circumstances. The collaboration between Tbay team, the school's staff, and the SABC TV showed the power of collective action in creating positive change.
Future Vision for Our Program
The stories of Bophelong Primary School and Extension K Secondary School remind us that even seemingly insurmountable challenges can be overcome with compassion, dedication, and collaborative efforts. Tbay's donation drives are testaments to the power of education, proving that by extending a helping hand, we can collectively brighten the future for countless children.
Our “Donating 1,000 Schools” program in Africa keeps going on, which shines as a light on the path of education for those who need it most, every step towards a more educated and empowered society is a step leading to a better world.
