At Tbay, we believe in the power of education and are committed to making a difference in the lives of children across Africa. As part of our mission to support 1,000 schools, we organized a charity event at Konkonuru Methodist Basic School in Ghana this January. In this blog, we will share the impact of our initiative and the unforgettable moments from this event.
About Konkonuru Methodist Basic School
Konkonuru Methodist Basic School was founded in 1962 by the Wesleyan Ministry and is now under government administration despite retaining its Methodist name. The school has 25 teachers and an enrollment of 445 students, ranging from kindergarten to junior high school.
Many families in the surrounding community face financial hardships, with most parents being unemployed or engaged in small-scale farming. Due to these challenges, providing basic educational materials for their children remains a struggle.
Why We Chose This School?
We selected Konkonuru Methodist Basic School because of its exceptionally talented students who, despite their potential, lack the necessary resources to excel academically. Our goal is to bridge this gap by providing essential school supplies that enhance learning.

Meeting with the School Administration
Before the event, the Tbay team met with the school’s administration to discuss their needs and how we could make an impact.

The school welcomed the Tbay team with open arms. A representative shared gratitude for our initiative, emphasizing the importance of the donation in improving learning conditions.

Our representative, Valarie Selasie Azaglo, addressed the students and staff, highlighting Tbay’s commitment to education in Africa. She explained that as a company specializing in online gift card trading, Tbay also takes social responsibility seriously and aims to support 1,000 schools across Africa.

Interview with the Headmistress
In an interview, Headmistress Diana Manu expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Tbay for the donations. She highlighted some of the school’s major challenges, including, lack of exercise books, school uniforms, and shoes, making it difficult for students to attend school.
She shared how many students come from struggling households where even basic school supplies are a luxury. She prayed for continued support from organizations like Tbay to help improve education for her students.
