On August 31st, Tbay visited a community located in Arewa Street, Ijora Badia, Nigeria, which is the 50th place we donated for our “Donating 1,000 Schools” program in Africa.
For years, the residents of Arewa Street, Ijora Badia have faced overwhelming challenges, including inadequate access to clean water, healthcare, and education. Meanwhile, limited job opportunities created a cycle of poverty that seemed unbreakable. Almost 90% of the children in Ijora Badia have lived in slums, and lack social and learning resources. Some of them are unable to purchase school supply kits.
In order to increase the children's desire to learn, this community was selected and learning kits were provided to meet their daily needs. This time we brought them with notebooks, pencils and towels, and 100 students benefited from our donation. We want to improve the community's living conditions, and also instilled a sense of hope and self-worth among its residents.
At first, Tbay team arrived at the community and was welcomed by the community chief and the head of market women association. As an ice breaker engagement, we engaged ijora badiya community children to a dance challenge. The challenge featured both male and female and the best dancers were rewarded with football as a gift.
After items distribution, the community teachers gave a vote of thanks to appreciate Tbay team for coming to the community. They prayed for the team and also mentioned that the children need a lot of learning equipment to assist their education.
We hope to empower the youth with knowledge and skills that can lead them to a brighter future.
Tbay will exert our utmost efforts to assist them in surmounting life's obstacles. And our "Donating 1,000 Schools" program in Africa will persist in its mission to aid those in need.
