On September 25，Tbay visited Akoka Nursery and Primary School, located in Lagos, which is the 53rd school we donated for our “Donating 1,000 Schools” program in Africa.
Akoka Nursery and Primary School, located beside the University of Lagos main gate, whcih was founded on November 16, 1974, as Mobalaji Johnson Primary School. Originally established as a demonstration school for the University of Lagos College of Education, it was led by Mrs. C.A. Falase. The school currently has 250 pupils and 25 staff.
We chose this school due to its proximity to the volunteers' assembly point, reputation, and a friendly relationship with University of Lagos students. Additionally, the school provides essential materials to aid learning and encourages students to work hard.
At first, we had a quick meeting with the school administrator in order to know with their academic performance. And a member of the social community from local government came to witness the activities in order to ensure that no political party influence has been involved in.
This time we brought them with exercise books, biros, pencils, water bottles, snacks, wall clocks, footballs to enhance their learning resources.
After distributing items, our photographer was taking pictures, then we proceeded to ask the student questions such as “What is a family?” A girl said that a family is like having a special team of people who love and care about you no matter what happened. It's like having your own little group of superheroes who are always there to help, hug, and make you feel better when you're sad. It’s really a warm answer to define family.
At last, the school administrator and teachers expressed their gratitude to Tbay team, for our generous donation, recognizing the presence and support of the Tbay team.
